Big Warnie In London

Cricket's biggest star, Shane Warne, has become even bigger!

A 28-foot tall statue of the legendary leg-spinner takes centre stage in Cricket Australia's new ad campaign, appropriately titled 'Big Warnie.'

The 'Big Warnie' campaign sees a group of loyal Aussie cricket fans deliver the giant statue to the people of England as a prelude to the 3 mobile Ashes Series which begins in Brisbane on 23 November.

Their adventures with 'Big Warnie' in central London make up the six-part TV ad series.

So, sit back, relax and watch 'Big Warnie' wreak havoc with the English...perhaps a sign of things to come later this year.

It's definitely on.

Quote of the day

"If I'm bowling well and enjoying it, I've got no right to say this is my last Test match in Sydney next year. Who knows? I might be able to make another Ashes series in 2009.”

Doing enough

Well Warney hasn't really set the world on fire in Bangladesh yet he has been his usual tight good self. After a sore shoulder in the first test he has actually bowled quite well taking 6 wickets at 31. But its the batting which has let him down. After Jason Gilispie's efforts yesterday, he must be spewin. Still well done Dizzy, stick it up em, the selectors that is.

Shane Warne up to second spot

Leg-spinning wizard Shane Warne's six-wicket haul in the second innings of the Durban Test has lifted him one notch to second spot in the latest LG ICC Test bowling rankings.

Warne, whose mesmerising spell on the final day led the South Africans to a series defeat, upstaged fellow Australian Glenn McGrath, who gave the tour a miss to be with his ailing wife.

Warne rules out one-day comeback for World Cup

Australian leg spinner Shane Warne will not end his retirement from one-day internationals to play in the 2007 World Cup.

"Absolutely no, I don't have any plan for a one-day comeback," he told a news conference.

Warne and other Aussies smashed

The Australians were given their second cricket lesson inside 12 months by the lowly Bangladeshes today on a flat lifeless pitch. Finishing day 1 on 5 for 355, they not only scored their highest days test score but also blunted the best the Aussies had to offer including Shane Warne. Warne was smashed going for over 5.5 in his 20 overs finishing with 0 for 112. Hopefully the Aussies best is yet to come and no doubt the Warne factor will click into gear soon, but after day 1 takes your hat off Bangladesh.
