Warne bounces back as Hampshire crash

Warne bounced back well in the middle part of the second day of their match against Warwickshire. In a hot spell be claimed 6 wickets straight, clean bowling 3 in a row, to finish with 6-88. The excitement was short lived however as Hampshire again crashed, bowled out for 124 in only 37 overs, Warney himself out again for a wild swipe, bowled last ball before tea. At least he didn't add to his duck collection in his 3 ball 2nd innings stay, out for 4. Warwickshire needed less than 5 overs to knock off the 44 runs required to ensure a 10 wicket thrashing.

Rewind Back... March 2004

After only 6.1 overs on the fifth day of the second Test in Kandy, Australia, thanks to Shane Warne had not only bowled out Sri Lanka but also clinched the 3 Test series, 2 - 0 after only 2 tests. Warne again starred taking his 2nd 5 wicket haul for the match, 5-90 in the second innings following his 5-65 in the first. This meant that he had taken five wickets in all four innings thus far in his comeback series (20 wickets at 15.70). It was his eighth ten-wicklet haul in Tests, and it rushed his career tally to 511, giving him an opportunity to break Courtney Walsh's world record of 519 in the final match of the series, in Colombo. The first Test also saw him become only the second test player ever to reach 500 wickets.

Captain Warne crashes back down to earth

Shane Warne, captain of Hampshire had a very average day at the office today at the hands of Warwickshire in the first day of their county match. Top of the table Hampshire, minus another Aussie great Simon Katich, were bowled out for a modest 184. Hot on the heals of his recent century, Warne went for a fifth ball duck. Later on in the day his bowling was made to look a little ordinary as Warwickshire cruised to 145/2 at stumps on day one.
Today's trivia question: Shane Warne is 3rd on the list of all time most test ducks, who are the two players above him on the list?
